one tree for every item purchased

30th of June 2022

... yes 😊, we plant one tree 🌳 with every single purchase you make 🍃

We have teamed up with Ecologi so people like YOU can actually take on the climate crisis.  From here on out, every item you purchase through Tobias Oliver Interiors will mean one tree will be planted.  Either online, in our boutique or through our interior design services - every single item means another new tree being planted.  We want to be as involved as possible when it comes to tackling the climate crisis, furthering our commitment by using sustainable materials and packing on all our ecommerce orders.

To date our website has contributed over 7.1 K trees (as of 26.10.22) to the cause, with our forest of trees being planted in Kenya, Africa.  You can keep up to date with the amount of trees planted in our website footer with our real-time counter :-)

FACTS

It’s now common knowledge that one of the best tools to tackle the climate crisis and keep our temperatures from rising above 1.5C is to plant trees. They are also crucial in preventing ecological collapse.

The importance of forests cannot be underestimated

We depend on forests for our survival, from the air we breathe to the wood we use. Besides providing habitats for animals and livelihoods for humans, forests also offer watershed protection, prevent soil erosion and mitigate climate change. Yet, despite our dependence on forests, we are still allowing them to disappear.

Over 2 billion people rely on forests

Forests provide us with shelter, livelihoods, water, food and fuel security. All these activities directly or indirectly involve forests. Some are easy to figure out - fruits, paper and wood from trees, and so on. Others are less obvious, such as by-products that go into everyday items like medicines, cosmetics and detergents.

Habitats for biodiversity and livelihood for humans

Looking at it beyond our narrow, human – not to mention urban – perspective, forests provide habitats to diverse animal species. They are home to over half of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, and they also form the source of livelihood for many different human settlements, including 60 million indigenous people.

Over 1.6 billion peoples' livelihoods depend on forests

In addition, 750 million people live in forests, including 60 million indigenous people.  Yet, we are losing them. Between 1990 and 2020, the world lost some 178 million hectares of forest, an area the size of Libya. When we take away the forest, it is not just the trees that go. The entire ecosystem begins to fall apart, with dire consequences for all of us.
