L’Elegant is remarkable for its finesse: a delicate stripe of flowers and leaves embroidered on linen, reinterpreting the decoration of a charming embroidered waistcoat of the late eighteenth century preserved in the Maison’s archives. The origin explains the character. This is embroidery at dress scale rather than furnishing scale, fine, precise and light-handed, and it brings to a chair or cushion the intimacy of something once worn close to the body.
