The charities we support all have a special meaning to our team at Tobias Oliver Interiors. We understand how fortunate we are to have the simple things in life; friends, family and love so giving back wherever possible is a foundation we believe is crucial to our ongoing business. Helping bring awareness to these charities is hugely important to their success, and raising the funds needed to help those who need it the most.

December 2021 - Current

We are proud to support DENS through a monthly financial commitment to their all important fundraising!  This helps to provide a reliable, steady income for DENS through out the year.

Most recentley we have donated at £2500 design scheme for the DENS 20th Anniversy Gala Dinner Auction in Febraury 2024.

We also donated a £1000 design scheme to the winner of a Christmas Charity Event as part of a raffle with Best Results Fitness in 2022.

Most people know DENS as the homeless charity for people in Dacorum. In fact, DENS do so much more than just provide a roof and a bed. DENS aim is to be the first port of call for people in Dacorum who are facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion; to support and empower them to take the next positive step in their lives.

They ensure individuals have access to temporary and short-term accommodation, and individuals and families have access to emergency food and provisions. DENS provide accommodation options to support people to move on and sustain their own tenancy and they provide advice and training; empowering people to develop their skills and build confidence.

DENS has been helping to rebuild lives since 2003.

The Hospice of St. Francis

March 2023

The TOI Team decided to take part in an incredible experience to raise support for our local hospice, a Sky Dive!

This ambitious adventure was instigated by Project Lead - Nina Gilbert.

Nina wanted to do something to support The Hospice of St Francis to say thank you for the care the Community Team gave to her father, Oliver and for the support that Harrison received from our Children’s Services, in understanding and coping with the loss of his grandfather.

Nina explains how Harrison and his grandfather had become very close and had spent a lot of time together during this period. She remembers going to the Hospice with Harrison and visiting with the staff in their Children’s Pod (informally known as a Chicken Shed).

Nina speaks with warmth about the environment at the Hospice and how much Harrison enjoyed walking around the grounds and looking for the animals in the woodland walk.

The Children’s Bereavement team also offered Play-therapy sessions and Harrison really enjoyed making and decorating a memory box. He was also given a soft felt elephant to help comfort him.

This support and encouragement to talk helped Nina to support Harrison at home and gave her a way to speak to him about his grandfather’s passing.

“I was nervous to talk too much about death to him. I didn’t know how to talk to him. She (Childrens Support Team member) was amazing and really helped Harrison open up.”

Nina is not unfamiliar to challenges after completing another Skydive in New Zealand while traveling and completing an abseil down the side of St Thomas Hospital a few years ago!

Nina’s father was diagnosed with lung cancer and in March 2020 he moved into assisted living accommodation. He moved in the weekend before the country locked down. This made caring for him incredibly hard. The Hospice provided support over the telephone at the beginning and then progressed to the Community Team visiting him in his home. Nina also shares “The Hospice provided such amazing support and also sign posted us to other services.”

Sharing how grateful they are for the care provided after her father had passed, Nina explains “St Francis arranged the undertaker, so we didn’t have to worry. The relief and comfort we felt, meant so much at a very difficult time. Their support meant the world to us.”

Nina, Ambika and Toby raised over £3,500 through their fundraising support for the Sky Dive :-)

Friends of Little Gaddesden School

April 2022

We donated a £1000 design scheme to a Charity Spring Ball held at Ashridge House.  The Auction raised a record-breaking amount for the school's playground renovation fund.

At Little Gaddesden School, the role of the PTA is wider than in many other schools – it is a registered charity, The Friends of Little Gaddesden School (“the Friends”). Our objectives are not only to raise money for the school, but also to forge links within the local community and organisations. The Friends could not survive without support from parents, carers and the wider community.

The Friends host a variety of social events for parents, families and the wider community each year. These activities help raise valuable funds used to increase opportunities for the children at Little Gaddesden School.

NHS CHARITIES TOGETHER

April 2020 - November 2020

We are pleased to announce that of Monday the 27th of April 2020, we will be donating 5% of our profits from online and showroom sales to NHS Charities Together (NHSCT) in aid of the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.

There are more than 250 official NHS Charities across the UK, helping our hospitals to do more. In recent years, NHS Charities have funded projects pioneering research and medical equipment at our hospitals, helping patients access the best possible care when they need it most. They also play a key role in mobilising volunteers to support NHS staff, brightening wards and waiting areas, building an important link between our hospitals and our communities. Other NHS Charities support mental, community health and ambulance trusts. These vital funds and services are above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide, touching lives and making a huge difference to millions of people when they are at their most vulnerable.

The 2.6 Challenge in support of the Terrence Higgins Trust

Sunday 26th of April

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events.

The London Marathon alone, which should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, is the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.

The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

We supported the Terrence Higgins Trust...

Terrence Higgins Trust was one of the first charities to be set up in response to the HIV epidemic and has been at the forefront of the fight against HIV, and improving the nation's sexual health, ever since. THT offers services to people infected, or affected, by HIV and ill sexual health. We support over 85,000 people through counselling, advocacy, health education, one hour HIV testing and buddying. Over vision is a world where people with HIV live healthy lives free from prejudice and discrimination, and good sexual health is a right and reality for all.

Toby completed his challenge and raised £485 on behalf of Tobias Oliver Interiors :-). Well done to everyone who took part!

Our Winner was Rachel, an ITU Nurse at St. Peter's hospital - a true Hero!

Thank you to all who nominated. This campaign stemmed our launch to support NHS Charities Together (NHSCT).  Dontating 5% of all our online and showroom profits to this incredible group of charities.

West Herts Future Hospital - Fundraiser

Wednesday 13th of November 2019

This fundrasing event was held at our neighbouring restaurant, The Gatsby. The event was created to continue raising funds for the plans for the new hospital to be completed.  The hospital would be a state of the art 21st Century Hospital located in West Herts.

Of course, as we adapt the ever changing COVID-19 landscape, we understand how crucial our NHS Hospitals are, especially in our local area.

Tobias Oliver Interiors donated over £1100 to the fundraiser - we wish the team backing the plans for our future hospital the best of luck in making this vision a reality.

Screw Cancer - The App

Thursday 7th of November 2019

Screw Cancer is a charity set up by the late William Yeoward, who sadly passed away peacefully on Tuesday 18th of June 2018. William Yeoward is a household name when it comes to Interior Design, making his mark in history with his brand and beautiful character.

Diagnosis of cancer can leave you very confused - and more than a little frightened - uncertain of what will happen next.  It is not that everyone isn't tremendously helpful but your thinking is muddled and the ability to process can  be hard.  Vital information seems to be everywhere but not in one place.

The Screw Cancer App is designed to provide you with a single place on your phone where you can store information specific to you and your cancer treatment.

I first met William when we both particiapted in Interior Designers Pantomime in 2014, this performance sees leading figures from the world of fashion and design come together to raise money for different charities.  Now in it's 6th year, the Interior Designers Pantomime has raised several millions of pounds for various charities.

Last year the Interior Designers Pantomime was dedicated the William's charity, Screw Cancer.  Making this an extra special event - personal to the design community.

Tobias Oliver Interiors attended the Gala Dinner, after watching "Jack and the Blingstalk" on the 7th of November 2019 and contributed over £4500 towards the joint efforts of the design community raising a staggering amount for Screw Cancer.  See the video clip below - it's an incredible watch!

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

Sunday 8th of September 2019

Preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families.

Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.

We supported CRY with the donation of over £1700 for the local fundraiser, a 7-aside football tournament in our town of Berkhamsted.  The tournament took place on Sunday 8th of September 2019 and raised a fantastic £12,855 for this important charity.
