Our Furniture Collection

I'm starting to get the hang of this blogging business! It's pretty much the same as every other routine, you just need to get into the swing of it! Today I want to share with you some really exciting news. Our Furniture Collection.
I have been designing and making furniture since I was at university 10 years ago. Over the years my style has naturally evolved as I learnt more about what I believe should be the most important characteristics of furniture; influenced by scale, proportion and style. This has developed into the concepts for my own furniture range.
We are in early days here. We've started with the bedroom furniture range - consisting of just four items; bedside cabinet, dressing table, tall-boy & chest of drawers. The first prototypes will be made by the end of the year and we hope to be selling these via our own online shop by Summer 2017. There's a lot of work to be done before that though!

One of the most important factors in furniture is the quality of craftsmanship, and searching out a manufacturer who can meet the standards to which I work. Over this year I have met a number of manufacturers here in Beaconsfield, nationally and abroad. I am pretty close to deciding who will make the furniture - but it's not a decision I am taking lightly. I hope to have the prototypes manufactured by Christmas 2016.
The finishes and materials used include semi-precious stones, hand-cast resins, high-gloss lacquers, specialist mirrors, metal trims and faux-suedes. I want the range to be affordable; but with the option for customisation of the furniture for those who wish to have something truly unique.

In the meantime, here's a taster of what's to come… a sketch of our dressing table (shown at the top of this blog). The style spells the design vernacular for our furniture range; classic modern elegance. I can't wait to see the finished piece… watch this space!
