Orrefors of Sweden: A Tradition of Excellence

The success of Simon Gate and Edward Hald in Paris 1925 was the beginning of Orrefors’ long tradition of innovative design with the connection to genuine and traditional craftsmanship. Since 1970, many designers have contributed to bringing Orrefors’ design heritage into the future, such as Lena Bergström and Gunnar Cyrén, amongst many others.

Intermezzo Gold

One of the standout highlights in our new collection is the Intermezzo Gold range from Orrefors by Erika Lagerbielke who has long tried to fill Intermezzo’s characteristic bubble with gold pigment. Finally, it is there, encased in the crystal-clear glass – a matte drop shimmering like gold that shines enough to compete with anything you pour on top of it.

Intermezzo Blue

Street

The Street barware collection, designed by Jan Johansson, merges Orrefors’ Scandinavian design tradition with inspiration from New York’s world-famous grid system of streets and avenues. The crips purity of crystal permeates each glass, including options for champagne to cognac and – naturally – a dry martini. Street also includes a decanter and ice bucket with black details to provide contrast against the clear glass.

Carat

With Carat, Lena Bergström breaks with traditional ideals of cut glass. Here, she has instead honed a contemporary expression where chaos and order meet, enhancing each other in a burst of refracted light. The wide range includes everything from vases, candlesticks, votives and hurricane lamps to bowls, coasters and tableware.

Geometry

Spheres, cylinders and cones form the basis of the aptly named series Geometry, a highly anticipated, new mouth-blown tableware series for Orrefors by Swedish architect and designer trio Claesson Koivisto Rune.
