The TOI team had the pleasure of attending THE interiors even of the summer: WOW!house at the prestigious Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour.
Nestled in the heart of London, the Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour has long been a beacon for interior design aficionados and professionals alike. For three years in a row, designers have been treated to a ground breaking exhibition of creativity, innovation and design excellence.
WOW!house is not just an event; it’s a fully immersive experience. The concept brings together the world’s most prestigious designers and brands to create a breathtakingly beautiful house within the walls of the Design Centre. Each room is meticulously crafted to showcase the very best in interior design, from cutting-edge contemporary styles to timeless classics.
This year, WOW!house features a stellar line up of designers, each bringing their unique vision and style to the table. Renowned names such as Alidad, Katherine Pooley, and Sophie Ashby are just a few of the illustrious creatives contributing to this year’s event. Each designer has been given a room to transform, resulting in a diverse yet harmonious showcase that reflects the latest trends and innovations in the design world.
Our team loved weaving our way through all 19 rooms and wanted to share what we thought were the absolute showstoppers!
Our first highlight was The Watts 1874 Legend Room by Alidad. It is a stunning tribute to historical opulence and refined luxury. Alidad, renowned for his exquisite taste and masterful blending of traditional and contemporary elements, has created a space that exudes timeless elegance. The room features rich textures, sumptuous fabrics, and intricate detailing inspired by Watts’ heritage. The careful selection of antique furniture, alongside bespoke pieces, creates an atmosphere that is both nostalgic and sophisticated. The Watts 1874 Legend Room is a testament to Alidad’s ability to craft interiors that tell a story, enveloping visitors in an aura of legendary charm and sophistication.
Our next showstopper was The Rug Company Dining Room by Ken Fulk. A vibrant celebration of artistry and eclectic elegance. Fulk, known for his theatrical and bold design approach, has transformed the dining room into a visual feast that stimulates the senses. The room boasts a dynamic blend of patterns and colours, with a bespoke rug from The Rug Company called ‘A life Reflected’ serving as the focal point, anchoring the space with its intricate designs and luxurious textures. Ornamental mouldings, ceiling coffers printed with drawings by the Ken Fulk Art Department, a chandelier made from recycled PET bottles and even a French Empire fireplace! This room had it all and came together to create an atmosphere that is both intimate and grand. The Rug Company Dining Room by Ken Fulk is a testament to the transformative power of thoughtful design, turning the act of dining into an extraordinary experience.
As we were transported through these wonderful rooms, our next highlight was the House of Rohl Primary Bathroom by Michael Boyd, an exquisite blend of sophistication and tranquillity. Boyd has crafted a sanctuary that is both whimsical and luxurious. The bathroom features an array of premium fixtures from the House of Rohl, seamlessly integrated into a design that emphasizes clean lines and harmonious proportions. The room was designed into a series of inviting spaces linked by a zellige chequerboard tiled floor. Rich marbles, polished metals, and elegant ceramics combine to create a space that feels both timeless and contemporary. Thoughtful touches, such as strategically placed lighting, enhance the room’s ambiance, making it a perfect retreat. The House of Rohl Primary Bathroom by Michael Boyd offers an oasis of calm amid modern living.

After immersing ourself in the inspiring and innovative designs at WOW!house 2024, the TOI team indulged in a delicious dinner at Meat The Fish in Chelsea. Known for its warm ambiance and delectable cuisine, Meat The Fish offered the perfect setting to continue conversations about design and creativity.
What an exciting day full of new inspiration for our upcoming projects. Thank you Design Centre Chelsea for yet another amazing WOW!house.
